More Agent Carter Info
It's casting news.

Dominic Cooper has officially joined on as Howard Stark, which is awesome because it's just more fodder for my shipping him and Peggy as work spouses.

But the bigger WHAT?! for me is that James D'Arcy has signed on to be Edwin Jarvis. Well, now I have one more reason to watch the hell out of this show.

My hopes are really rising now. I hope the show works and works well. If we can't have a Black Widow movie than the least we can get is a good Peggy Carter series.

Oh man, awesome casting, but do they know the depths of the Howard/Jarvis fanfiction they have just spawned? Seriously, I can hear it being written right now.

I'm still sort of bummed that Jarvis is going to be a real person. I like J.A.R.V.IS being his own self. I wonder if D'arcy is going to have to challenge Paul Bettany's approach, or if Tony just took the name and Britishness and let J.A.R.V.I.S come up with his own personality?

I oddly hadn't even thought of that but YEAH. It's practically punching one in the face with how ripe the set up is for the shipping.

I'd like to think that maybe J.A.R.V.I.S inherited the Britishness and maybe some snark from Jarvis but everything else was just Tony letting his AI develop on his own.

Poor Maria is going to get such a bad deal in the fandom world.

I can't picture Jarvis being too insulting, considering he's a servant in the household. J.A.R.V.I.S probably did some experimenting to discover the best way to keep Tony safe was to be sassy and interesting and mocking.

It's a bit sad that an OT3 might be the best treatment she gets.

I somehow get the feeling that Howard didn't run a particularly traditional household. At least not when he was single (which I'm sort of assuming he might still be when this show starts).

Aww, I kind of like the idea of Jarvis being a bro to Howard, the way J.A.R.V.IS is sort of a bro for Tony. Being British and helpful and suggesting you not blow yourself up, sir.

We shall see how it all goes down, though.
formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on October 1st, 2014 05:22 pm (UTC)
I do imagine Jarvis as being like a more snarky Jeeves.

Fingers crossed.

If they could somehow loop in a guest star spot for Toby Jones as Zola that would be awesome. I'd like to see how he'd works as a member of SHIELD who is also undercover HYDRA.

I don't know, Jeeves is pretty snarky in his own right. Just polite about it.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the Howling Commandos, even if it's just a visit or a cup of tea with Falsworth or something.

I still need to see Cap 2. Once this last month-long migraine settles down, I'm going to try to get it in before the next one starts up.

Dum Dum seemed to be visiting Howard in that Peggy Carter short film they did so maybe he'll pop up in the series.

Hopefully seeing it on the small screen will help lower the chances of it inducing a migraine. There were a couple of action scenes that featured a lot of jerky camera work which I'm sure is not migraine friendly.

I still wish there was a Canadian Howling Commando. We were there, too! Possibly not at the appropriate time for the rescue Steve did, but we were totally there and no one remembers that we were there.

Whoever invented shaky cam is a very bad person. I disliked it even before I started getting headaches. I get in action scenes that it helps the feel, but I remember one of the Bourne films they were were shaky camming on two people having a conversation in a coffee shop. I don't find it edgy or entertaining or interesting. I just find it nauseating and hard to follow the actual film.

I feel like the flip side to this is the slo mo camera work, which I can't stand. They used it so much in the second Sherlock Holmes movie that I felt myself getting angry that this movie was adding an extra 12 minutes to their running time with the slo mo.

I don't mind slo-mo in some situations, used sparingly for proper effect (either to show something that was too quick to see, or to imply a character's state of mind as being fuzzy), but when you're just doing it to look badass, I'm going to judge you.

The first Holmes movie used it well, to show Holmes' deductions (just like BBC Sherlock uses his Sherlock-O-Vision) but the second one was just there to make something ridiculous (the fight in the forest) look even more ridiculous.

I wonder how long it took, considering that Benedict described the slo-mo camera they used for Scandal as only able to get 30 seconds of film in a go before overheating and needing to be 'put in a corner and given a cup of tea'.

Heehee! It almost sounds like one of Stark's robots who can't quite function.

I bet Tony totally gives digital tea to J.A.R.V.I.S when he's feeling out of sorts. Like, there's diagnostic programme with the acronym 'C.U.P.P.A' to sort out problems in the coding.

Speaking of which, I recently discovered that programmers put comment lines in the their codes to explain functions or add notes, and I had a bit of fun coming up with what Q's comments might look like.

*/Don't touch this unless you are me. You think you are smarter than me, but you aren't.

*/I'll come back and make this work better after I have a cup of tea.

*/Shhh. It's magic.

Real!Jarvis probably extolled the virtues of tea for sorting out problems.

HA! And then little Q comes back to it and Sherlock's been there.

*/You didn't see me.

formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on October 2nd, 2014 02:29 am (UTC)
Omg, I can totally see Q and Sherlock arguing back and forth via comments in the code until Mycroft comes in and deletes the entire thing and leaves a single line message of STOP.
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on October 2nd, 2014 02:33 am (UTC)
HA! And the next day the entire code is back to the way it was. Because even baby!Q knows about back-ups.

Oh, aww, that might be a possible way that Sherlock and Q communicated during the hiatus. Some sort of open source coding on a website they could leave comments in.

Damn it. I am such a sucker for Trio childhood shenanigans.

It amazes me how much it's become canon in my head that Q is a Holmes brother. I'm going to be wondering what Sherlock and Mycroft are up to when the next Bond film comes out.
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on October 2nd, 2014 03:03 am (UTC)
It'll be nice to have more canon to work with. I've never done anything with anything pre-Hiatus for the Trio verse. I suppose I could fill in what Q what up to during Series One and Two and how Mycroft responded to the whole Skyfall affair. My headcanon has Skyfall taking place during the Hiatus, for some reason. I think just the timing of the movie coming out.
