Interview with Snowpiercer Director, Bong Joon-Ho
I really liked this interview with South Korean director, Bong Joon-Ho about his first English language film, Snowpiercer. Even the format of indicating when Bong's answers were translated versus him speaking English was a nice touch.

This quote regarding the film's star, Chris Evans stuck out for me: "Chris Evans, he's actually just a very, very sensitive guy. You don't notice that immediately because he's so muscular and strong. But he's actually very delicate. You have to approach him very carefully and almost protect him as you work."

I had this image pop into my head that Chris Evans is like a colt: slightly skittish to new environments, strong enough to trample all over the place, but if you coax him properly he can really take off.

Okay, bye! (to quote Arthur Shappey)

So is Snowpiercer a movie I should see? I'm not much for dystopias, but the cast looks really strong.

Aw, Chris.

I'm also not much for dystopian future stories so the actual world Snowpiercer built didn't interest me as much. The allegory of the train being a capitalist society based in inequality was about as subtle as Bucky's metal arm to the face.

The acting in this movie was its shining jewel. Across the board everyone's performances were fantastic so I'd watch it for that...which you could easily do on DVD.

You have to approach him very carefully and almost protect him as you work.

This is essentially what my dance teacher said about me. She said to my mum that she couldn't correct me, she had compliment me first and then correct, because otherwise, I got too upset to listen.

He can hang out with Smith!Giraffe at our tea parties!

I'm not sure if Evans!Colt belongs at the tea party. Kind of like how it wasn't clear if Sewell!Alligator and Cooper!Koala should be there. Maybe we need to start a new setting. A picnic perhaps? Somewhere with lots of green fields?

Hmmm. Could they visit penguin!McAvoy and Shark!Bender down at the beach? Or a lake, with a nice meadow nearby?
formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on August 6th, 2014 11:09 pm (UTC)
Ah, I'd forgotten Penguin!McAvoy and Shark!Bender. The beach sounds nice. They can do a beach picnic. I strangely feel like Colt!Evans needs an American friend, though.

Maybe ScarJo would come and hang out with the boys? She's used to that, and she and Evans get along. I think she'd make a nice ermine.
formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on August 6th, 2014 11:55 pm (UTC)
Ooh! She'd make a lovely ermine. Colt!Evans should be pretty happy then. Because when Colt!Evans isn't properly coaxed, this could happen.

I feel like I've merged with most of your daemon headcanon for the MCU fandom.

I feel a bit bad about that. You know, feel free to do your own for anyone you want. I won't be offended. I feel like I'm throwing my weird headcanon at you like one of those baseball shooter machines.

Only I've caught them all and now I'm huggling them. Your headcanons are SO GOOD. I can never imagine any other daemon for Steve or Tony now. They're lovely and perfect. I'm so glad you've let me play with them for a bit and have them play with my daemons.
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on August 7th, 2014 03:44 am (UTC)
I'm glad to see them coming to life. I have far too much headcanon and not enough stories. And I've adopted Dejeni, so we're having a proper swap.
formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on August 7th, 2014 03:52 am (UTC)
So much headcanon, so little time.

I feel like I have ficcing ADHD these days. I skip around all the time with these stories. I'd work on one for a bit and then associate to something that makes me switch over to a different fic until I have a bunch of snippets but nothing cohesive.
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on August 7th, 2014 03:57 am (UTC)
I always have four or five stories on the go at once, and am constantly starting new stories that often don't go anywhere. It's actually amazing I ever get anything finished. I have no method at all. My only consolation is that I pick through the semi-fics and pull out bits and pieces that work in other fics, so a lot of ideas get used in the end, anyway.

I often have that thing where I write a bit that I really like but it doesn't really belong in the current story so I end up starting a different story around just that one bit.

"This scene would make a lot more sense if Tony was a teenager now and Demira's settled. I guess I could do a story set during the teen years too then. Wait a minute..."
The Writer They Call Tayawanderingbard on August 7th, 2014 04:12 am (UTC)
I have those sorts of things, too. Usually from a one-liner.

"This reminds me of that night where you rang me and made me bring you home from the pub."

Well, clearly I need to write the story where Q is pissed and Sherlock is trying to get him home, don't I?
