Moar Elementary Casting News
Another actor joins the cast of Elementary in a reoccurring (possible canon?) role.

It seems Elementary really is doing their own version of Reichenbach with Sherlock vanishing for a whole year without giving word to Joan. And the article suggests Joan is not at all happy about it. I'm going to take a guess and say she'll be mad a little longer than John was with Sherlock.

I'm curious if Andrew is the Mary Morstan of this show. If he is, I'd actually prefer it if the show stuck with the canon a bit more and made Andrew/Mary truly normal. No drama, no hidden secrets, no violent intrigue that attracted Joan to him in the first place. I want him to really be "an oasis of normalcy in a life that is still rife with strangeness and drama." I feel like the writers have it in them to write a really good exchange between Sherlock and Joan about her choosing someone so normal as a partner. I can just hear Sherlock give his two cents that's about 99% befuddlement and wrong conclusions. But I can also see him ultimately come to understand on at least an intellectual level why Joan will always have one foot in the world of Normal.

Fingers crossed this goes somewhere good and not terrible. Not that it can get much worse from the whole Mycroft debacle.

Just what I was thinking, I'm afraid. I'm not ready for the writers to try this. So far, they've given Joan an ex who was a substance abuser and ended up in jail; and Mycroft. Am I forgetting anyone? I really, really hope they do better this time.

There was also that guy really early on in season 1 who still spoke to Joan's parents and worried about her living with some guy as part of her job. Sherlock hacked her phone and invited him to dinner. He was pretty unmemorable.

Oh, golly. I sort of remember Sherlock doing that, but I can't remember the guy at all, so I have to agree with your judgment of "pretty unmemorable"!

I feel like each successive ex of Joan's the show introduced was worse than the one before so the guy's buried under the awfulness of the addict and Mycroft. I'm pretty sure his worst crime was that he was sort of patronizing. At least he didn't nearly get a person killed or lie about being MI6. And also nearly get a person killed.

Yeah, I admit the end of this last season shook my faith in the show pretty badly. It wasn't as bad as actually shipping Joan/Sherlock, but...

And I hope that Andrew is normal, and also a good person; Joan deserves someone honest in her life. ...though if he actually is, I don't think his odds are too great of surviving the season...

Yeah, the Mycroft thing was quite horrendous. But I feel the writers have enough points on their side that I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Well, if he is the Mary Morstan counterpart then...
