When Spoilers Attack
I have no one to blame but myself: I read a spoiler regarding the future direction of Hannibal and I'm already wailing in denial.

Sure, maybe the spoiler isn't true but it makes too much sense and the show has already hinted at it.

So apparently there will be three deaths this season. One is anticipated to be Bedelia which isn't surprising given what the trailers have shown us. If you believe Will Graham then you will probably die. The second is going to be Beverly.

Okay. Okay, let me take a minute here. I started out not liking Beverly but she rapidly became one of my favorite characters on this show. I loved that the show wrote her as a smart, capable, no nonsense, blunt human being. She did not handle anything with kid gloves but wasn't unnecessarily cruel. She just laid things out like they were and didn't take bullshit from anyone. That she was played by an Asian American actress and managed to be written without a single female stereotype or Asian stereotype made her a freaking UNICORN on TV. Next to Joan Watson, she was one of the best, smartly written characters played by an Asian American woman.

And now she's going to die.

God, I hate this because it sort of makes narrative sense in that she's the next closest to Will Graham after Alana Bloom and she's an active investigator. Plus, her death is one that would no doubt affect viewers but not destroy them. Although it's already destroying me just thinking about it. On a personal viewer level, I don't want Beverly to go because I love her character and her relationship with Will, Jack, Price and even fucking Zeller. On a more political level, god damn this show for killing off one of the few Asian characters that is so well written. I guess it's their right since they created here in the first place but god dammit! Also, with Bedelia and Beverly gone, that's two reoccurring female characters down. We're left with Alana and Freddie Lounds and I'm sorry but Alana Bloom is arguably a flat character. I really hope this changes but as of season 1 and first episode of season 2, she's still here largely to fill a stereotype. And...and! We're now left with ONE minority actor (Laurence Fishburne)! Dammit, Hannibal! You were doing okay on the racial diversity front and now you do this?? You've been downgraded from a B to a C-, show in this respect.

I'm going to need A LOT of wine for Beverly's last episode.
