Meme (Revived for 2014!)
Revived thanks to awanderingbard:

Character Questions Meme
1. Go here to generate 10 random numbers between 1 and 100.

2. Choose a character that I write or have written, be it a canon person, an OC or whatever. Feel free to pick a character that was used last time, as the questions will most likely be different this time around.

3. Comment with the character and the numbers, and then I will answer the corresponding questions from here

OCS and AU versions of characters are welcome.

Um...Lestrade? Murphy/Lestrade Lestrade? Or Q, whichever you prefer.

I went with Lestrade in the 'verse where he and Murphy are together.

Do you care what others think of you?
Well, it's a balance, isn't it? I haven't gotten to being a DI by completely disregarding whether or not people think me dependable. Then again, you can't be the only DI at Scotland Yard who constantly calls in Sherlock Bloody Holmes and expect people to like you.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Older, greyer, happier, hopefully not fatter, with Connie and Anna.

In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
In general I believe in treating people with respect and courtesy. Usually I have to double that amount to anyone who runs across Sherlock when he’s working on a case for us.

What is your most treasured possession?
I don't have anything I treasure that much so I'll say Connie and Anna. They're not my possessions just to be absolutely clear. They're just both what I value most.

Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
My dad was Benjamin Lestrade, the local DI for our village who met his end while on duty. My mum’s Leslie Lestrade who long retired from her job as the school’s head mistress and is still alive and kicking in the same house I grew up in. It’s obvious that I picked the job I did because dad did it. And some smart arse psychologist once told me that my first wife, Sandra, also being a school teacher had something to do with me wanting to work out mother issues but what the hell do psychologists know?

Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
Despite is a strong word. I don’t think I actually despise anyone. At least not consistently. Every other week though I wish that bastard Carter who works in IA would give me a reason to punch him. So there’s that.

Where and when were you born?
North Somerset, September 23rd, 1963.

What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons...)
I don’t consider myself to be an “adventurer” and I generally don’t believe it can be considered heroism if it’s part of the job that you signed up for. In short, I do the job and the job is protecting the public and putting away the bad guys.

What, if anything, do you like to read?
Biographies, mostly. Connie got me a great one about Charles Lindbergh I’m going through right now.

Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
Depends on the situation. For anything interpersonal related, it’s Connie. For anything crimes related that’s especially difficult, it’s Sherlock. For anything Sherlock-related that’s always difficult, it’s John.

Hee! I read all of this in Lestrade's voice. He's lovely.

*huggles him*

Interesting, we both have our Lestrades as sons of policemen fathers who died on the job.

Thanks for doing this, it was great!

Carlos the scientist! :)

(oops, number 1 is harder than usual? ^^;)

This was super fun! And it featured a very small window into that Night Vale fic I keep harping on about.

Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
I always have a plan. Scientists always need a plan otherwise it would just be chaos. Granted, since coming to Night Vale, what might be considered a “plan” has been up for re-evaluation. As well as what might be considered “chaos.”

Do you care what others think of you?
Not particularly. I’ve never really been the person people thought I was and it seems pointless to take into consideration what others think of you when making personal decisions when you consider just how many others there are out there. Having said that, I have taken into consideration Cecil’s feelings on my taking into consideration his feelings now that we are dating and he doesn’t think the best of me when I forget to call to cancel dates due to experiments running over.

How close are you to your family?
We used to be but it’s gotten harder since I went away to college. No one in my family quite seems to understand what it is I do despite my numerous explanations so it’s often difficult for them to understand why it is that I can’t always come home for holidays. But my parents are aware I’m happy and doing what I love and they seem mostly content with that.

Do you like yourself?
Yes. Yes, I do like myself if I’m going to answer that question broadly.

Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
I’m a realist. However, Cecil has recently told me I’m an optimist. Or at least that’s what he checked off for me when he helped me fill out the Sheriff’s Secret Police’s census this year.

What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
This is a difficult question to answer with any sort of scientific accuracy. Off the cuff, to study this you would have to employ a series of experiments involving recordings, retroactive self-reporting, and reporting by close friends and colleagues in order to ascertain the frequency of words and phrases most often uttered. However, this type of study would have to also be modified to take into consideration the Hawthorne Effect as well as the general inaccuracy of self-report responses. So from just the general scientific speculation here alone, I’d conclude that this question is nearly impossible to answer with any sort of scientific accuracy.

If you could choose, how would you want to die?
Preferably not soon.

What does your voice sound like? (replace for 12)
I’ve never given that much thought. Cecil once described it as “caramel with oaky tones” but I’m unclear what that means exactly. He assures me it’s a good thing which is nice, though.

When and with whom was your first kiss?
I was 7 and it was my middle sister’s friend, Theresa.

What is your full name?

AHAHAHAHAH that last answer~! And of course optimist/pessimist is on the SSP's census. (and of course Carlos is an optimist. He appears to believe the universe exists; that's so very charmingly optimistic! XD)
