Could I have Mycroft, please? Q-verse if relevant. :-)
formerly lifeinsomniac: ruletheworldjoonscribble on July 22nd, 2013 08:18 pm (UTC)
Mycroft Holmes (from the Q-verse)

What they smell like:
Mycroft uses Acqua Di Parma Colonia, a men's cologne that's classic as it is rather non-descript. It registers somewhat in the background for most people and is quickly forgotten, a trait Mycroft prefers.

How they sleep:
Wearing his 100% cotton pajamas of various striped pattern. He tends to fall asleep on his back and mostly stays that way.

What music they enjoy:
Mycroft enjoys silence. Once when his youngest brother was annoyed with him he hacked Mycroft's phone to go off every 10 minutes with a Madonna song. Mycroft was forced to destroy the phone to stop the music.

How much time they spend getting ready in the morning:
Precisely 22 minutes every day but Sunday. 25 minutes on Sundays.

Their favorite thing to collect:
Well aged Scotch

Their family:
Father (deceased)
Mummy
Sherlock (consulting detective, frequent rejector of knighthood)
Oriabiaus (occupation classified)

A weird/obscure fear they have:
Mycroft wouldn't call it a fear but he finds most dogs smaller than a briefcase to be an annoyance and generally distasteful.

A secret skill:
Running the British government in secret is a pretty big skill. And he's rather superb at gardening. As a child he cultivated and kept several exotic flora in the family's greenhouse.

There is nothing about this that is not brilliant. I especially like Q's phone trick. I can just picture Mycroft very calmly hitting it with a hammer until it stops making noise.

Also Q's name! Poor little fellow, I bet it was heard to learn to spell (not that Trevelyan is any easier). I wonder what, if anything, they called him for short?

Also Mycroft's gardening. That's very sweet!

Thanks! I like the idea of his phone going crazy while he's at his club. Much to the annoyance and horror of all other members.

As a child Q's family called him Ori for short though he didn't think it was much of an improvement.

While Q watches through a security camera and laughs his ass off, no doubt.

Aww! Ori! That's so cute, and very fitting, I think. Though I can see why he was happy to take a letter.

I have a bit of an obsession with nicknames (probably because I don't really have one), but I've never been sure about nicknames with the Holmes brothers, I feel like Mummy should have pet names, but the ones I can get out of Sherlock and Mycroft don't suit them well. Grandmere's French pet names work better, but I have very little excuse to use them. So much headcanon, not enough stories. /random

But yeah, you'd have to shorten Oriabiaus. Just on principle.

formerly lifeinsomniac: DresdenGuardianjoonscribble on July 23rd, 2013 03:12 am (UTC)
Harry Dresden (in the Dresden/Torchwood verse)

What they smell like:
Harry, thanks to the climates of Wales, smells like leather, rain, and a bit of chippy grease.

How they sleep:
Harry spent most of his adventures in Wales asleep on his stomach, his wand usually clutched in one hand.

What music they enjoy:
Harry's partial to motown and anything that's loud enough to drown Bob out when he needs some R&R.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning:
About ten minutes is all he gets as he's usually up and running to the latest disaster Torchwood is telling him about.

Their favourite thing to collect:
At the moment Harry's favorite thing to collect is extra sleep time.

Their family:
Malcolm Dresden (deceased)
Margaret Dresden nee Morningway (deceased)
Justin Morningway (deceased, thank god)
Bob (deceased, but still around)

A weird/obscure fear they have:
Man-eating sheep. Ever since Owen told him they existed, Harry can't stop thinking about them and shuddering.

A secret skill:
Really good at karaoke. He can't tell Bob lest it starts turning into some bizarre competition.

Oh man, so many I'd like to ask about, but for now, the Trickster!
formerly lifeinsomniac: Tricksterjoonscribble on July 23rd, 2013 08:49 pm (UTC)
Feel free to ask for more than one! I welcome more reasons to play around with my headcanon!

The Trickster

What they smell like:
The Trickster tends to smell the way most humans do just after they come in from a blizzard: crisp, cold, and electric.

How they sleep:
He rarely sleeps on a schedule as he rarely needs sleep. However, usually after some vigorous physical activity (like that time he got it on with that Fire Nymph), he tends to sleep a couple of hours.

What music they enjoy:
Partial to the tunes of David Bowie and Mozart.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning:
Less than a second. Literally a snap of the fingers unless he's trying to waste some time.

Their favourite thing to collect:
Favors from other people

Their family:
No family, though he is still technically married to his wife.

A weird/obscure fear they have:
Of being re-captured and chained again.

A secret skill:
Apart from perhaps following the rules, the Trickster is skilled in just about everything and tends not to be secret about that.
Dusty: SPN. Dean. You are a Fever.dustlines on July 24th, 2013 07:50 pm (UTC)
Oh, this is brilliant! The scent is about what I'd have imagined, plus a hint of burning leaves. The Fire Nymph comment made me chuckle, and I like his very simple collection style. Also, if only we could all get dressed so quickly in the morning!

I want to point out my love of your writing in the Trickster's voice here. He's such a great, strongly-voiced character in your hands. I can practically feel him smirking on the other side of these words. It's great. *happy squeaks*

Feel free to ask for more than one! I welcome more reasons to play around with my headcanon!

Really!? Well, feel free to pick or discard any of the following: Morgan, Bob (ghost or human), Aziraphale, Crowley.

Eeee! Thank you!

Really!? Well, feel free to pick or discard any of the following: Morgan, Bob (ghost or human), Aziraphale, Crowley.

I discard none of them!! Though I had to break it up into two separate comments.

Donald Morgan (Dresden TV-verse)
What they smell like:
Morgan uses Bond no. 9 Hamptons aftershave. While the very human makers of this aftershave purport that it smells like happiness, success, and dreams fulfilled, on Morgan it smells like authority, intimidation, and orders dispatched.

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc):
Morgan generally gets about 7 hours a night which he tries to stick to despite his sometimes fluctuating schedule.

What music they enjoy:
Mostly jazz but he also enjoys classical music of the instrumental variety. Largely he stays away from music that involves lyrics.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning:
Maximum 20 minutes. He's got his routine down.

Their favourite thing to collect:
Jazz records and fine cigars.

Their family:
He has one older sister who is a professor. His parents are both still alive and he followed his mother's footsteps into becoming a warden.

A weird/obscure fear they have:
Spiders. Morgan has seen too many spiders both normal sized and magically gigantic to ever feel comfortable around them.

A secret skill:
An excellent dancer.

Bob (Dresden TV-verse, ghost version)
What they smell like:
As Bob is dead, damned and a spirit, he does not smell of anything. The most he emanates in his current state is a slight chill if someone walks through him. And when he concentrates, he can also flood out a general feeling of misery and despair that can infect humans around him.

How they sleep (sleeping position, schedule, etc):
Bob does not sleep and largely spends his time when others are sleeping either trying to read, reworking old spells, or spying on said others (something that Harry finds immeasurably annoying and creepy).

What music they enjoy:
Much to Bob's and Harry's embarrassment, Bob had a Celine Dion phase.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning:
Bob is always ready to go at all times since he never sleeps. However, the mornings are when he's the most snarky so Harry is always greeted with Bob at his most verbally acerbic during the AM.

Their favourite thing to collect:
Words and knowledge. There's very little these days that Bob can do to affect the world. But one thing he can do is gather information, may that be pop culture or wizard-related. Either way, Bob soaks it up like a sponge.

Their family:
No family other than Harry.

A weird/obscure fear they have:
It's not a specific fear, but Bob has a difficult time contemplating just how long eternity will mean for him. The vast stretch of time in front of him in his current state is something he can't dwell too much on.

A secret skill:
While he needs Harry to fill it out for him, he's excellent at Sudoku.
Dusty: Dresden Files. Harry + Booksdustlines on August 5th, 2013 08:36 am (UTC)
I don't really know how to begin approaching these, except they're all perfectly believable. I love the idea that Morgan is so subtly commanding that even his cologne molds itself into something else to try to appease him. Hee! He also does strike me very much as a man who needs his small, structured rules, even if he can only govern himself with them in the form of sleeping schedules, etc., and not the world at large.

And I never really considered Morgan's family! It's interesting to think of him as still having them, with no tragedies having taken them away from him. I kind of like this headcanon. It's refreshing to see a serious character without some horribly traumatic reason for his being so.

Much to Bob's and Harry's embarrassment, Bob had a Celine Dion phase.

This fills me with such delight I can hardly bare it. Oh my goodness! Instant headcanon. Harry should never have brought over that date who wanted to watch Titanic, hee!

Bob is always ready to go at all times since he never sleeps. However, the mornings are when he's the most snarky so Harry is always greeted with Bob at his most verbally acerbic during the AM.

This made me sad because it made me think maybe Bob's more acerbic in the mornings because he's been alone all night long, possibly going out of his mind a little with nothing but his thoughts to distract him. AUGH, I was not expecting these angsty thoughts here. *whimpers* I bet Harry has it all figured out, too, so he's nice to Bob in the mornings anyway. ;_;

While he needs Harry to fill it out for him, he's excellent at Sudoku.

Awww, that's adorable. ^_^

It's refreshing to see a serious character without some horribly traumatic reason for his being so.

My personal canon is that Morgan comes from quite a loving family who encourages their kids to follow their dreams. The motto being, "Do what you want, just do it with all your heart."

This fills me with such delight I can hardly bare it. Oh my goodness! Instant headcanon.

This was my favorite bit of the meme. :D

Aziraphale
What they smell like:
Aziraphale smells of musty books, tea, and dust.

How they sleep:
Aziraphale is an angel and therefore does not need sleep as evil never sleeps either. Having said that, he does enjoy a nice lie-in on rainy days.

What music they enjoy:
Is quite a fan of the Baroque period and One Direction.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning:
Hardly any. He mostly just gets up, changes into his clothes and walks downstairs to his bookstore.

Their favourite thing to collect:
Antiquarian books, specializing in holy texts with misprints.

Their family (siblings, parents, extended, etc.):
All his several hundred brothers and sisters are in heaven.

A weird/obscure fear they have:
While Aziraphale wouldn't call it a fear, he gets very nervous when people eat in his shop. Or pick up a book in his shop. Or express any interest in his shop and its contents.

A secret skill:
Stage magic ("It's not really a skill as you're not skilled in it, angel." "That's not true, Crowley!")

Crowley:
What they smell like:
Crowley prefers Boss by Hugo Boss as his aftershave. He doesn't need it as he doesn't really shave but he likes putting it on.

How they sleep:
Like Aziraphale he doesn't technically need sleep but he enjoys a good nap every now and again for a change of pace. His naps tend to last a few years which was much more doable when the world wasn't quite as active and keen on changing as it is now. So these days Crowley limits himself to a week or two at most. When he does sleep he tends to sprawl out on his king sized bed with his limbs taking up every inch of space.

What music they enjoy:
While not at first, Crowley eventually grew to like the music of Queen.

How much time they spend getting ready every morning:
If Crowley just stuck to what he's capable of, he could get ready in about a minute with a snap of his fingers. However, there's a certain level of enjoyment he gets out of going through a ritual which strokes his vanity. So he tends to spend about an hour each morning getting ready every morning.

Their favourite thing to collect:
Plants. Though officially he's supposed to say humans souls. Those are fun to collect too, but plants are really where his heart is at.

Their family (siblings, parents, extended, etc.):
No real family unless you count the hordes of demons who are mostly out to betray and back stab him at every turn. Which Crowley supposes isn't too different from some family relations humans have.

A weird/obscure fear they have:
Again, while Crowley wouldn't call it a fear, he really doesn't do well with horses.

A secret skill:
He's excellent at gardening, though that's hardly a secret. ("It's not gardening, Crowley. You terrorize the poor plants." "That's how it's done!")
Dusty: SPN. Dean. You are a Fever.dustlines on August 5th, 2013 09:04 am (UTC)
I don't think I'm ever going to get over your Good Omens characterizations. It's like you have a window right into their world. You seem to know them. Aziraphale is totally the kind of person (er...angel) who'd like overplayed music. I can see him liking a little Taylor Swift, too, and it making Crowley's eyes and ears bleed when he tries to enter Aziraphale's shop.

Or express any interest in his shop and its contents.

...He should really just change the sign to something dreadful, like "pre-used diapers" or "horse hair toupees" just to get people to stop coming in so often.

Stage magic ("It's not really a skill as you're not skilled in it, angel." "That's not true, Crowley!")

Ohhh, I like this. He has a two-sided coin that he thinks is so clever, and Crowley just sighs endlessly and can't stop rolling his eyes, while Aziraphale natters on, oblivious.

[Crowley's] naps tend to last a few years...

That has the potential for some awkward situations, like Crowley falling asleep in one place and, when he wakes up, the entire place has changed around him. It was disorienting, until he figured out it's mainly just superficial stuff that changes, while more permanent things, like rush hour traffic and the ability to turn a human soul, are forever.

Plants. Though officially he's supposed to say humans souls. Those are fun to collect too, but plants are really where his heart is at.

What do you think Crowley's first plant was? That's not a hobby one gets into accidentally, at least not usually!

Again, while Crowley wouldn't call it a fear, he really doesn't do well with horses.

This just makes me picture Crowley at some horse race, like the Kentucky Derby, quietly freaking out at every unusual noise and looking all serious yet panicked as he tries to hide his reaction.

"They're just horses, Crowley! They have gentle souls."
"Their eyes look like they're trying to escape their heads!!"
"Crowley, I really think we should talk about this 'problem' of yours."
