Elementary Casting News
The article tells you vaguely the general plot of the first episode of season 2. But it's mainly about who has been cast as a canonical character.

I actually think Rhys Ifans is a great choice for Mycroft. I guess they're going with an ultra skinny one? Unless he has to don a fat suit, which I doubt. And also, he lives at 221B! That...seems strange. But intriguing.

I still have to see the finale (I have been thwarted at my every turn!), so I'm avoiding the article, but I am pleased to see Mycroft join the Elementary crew. I think there's enough physical similarity between Ifans and Miller, and the age difference is just about perfect, only off by a couple of years. I hope we get the more amicable relationship from the books. Or at least a less caustic one than BBC Sherlock and Mycroft.

You haven't yet seen the finale? Drop everything! And post when you've seen it! (Yes, I still have to post too, and I saw it only a day or two after it aired.)

The DVR messed up the recording, and the streaming video on Global didn't work, and now they've taken it down. Mum and I decided we might be able to sych our iPads if we dl it from iTunes, but if that fails, we've exhausted all legal means, unfortunately.

Crud! That stinks! I hope you can get it from iTunes.

I'm oddly enamored with this casting choice. I feel like for awhile Rhys Ifans was known more for his comedic roles but he was excellently creepy in Enduring Love. Like you, I hope this Mycroft has a less caustic relationship with Sherlock. My general guess is that he'd be sort of paternal that edges on patronizing which would drive Sherlock crazy at times.

I think I've only seen Ifans in Notting Hill, and Vanity Fair (he was the only likeable character there, iirc). Well, I've apparently seen others, but that's what I remember him in. I don'thave a hard picturing him having Mycroft's laziness. I can see him sitting around being clever and not moving an inch.

I really like brotherly relationship in the Game of Shadows movie, Stephen Fry and RDJ don't look much alike, but Fry looks exactly like book!Mycroft to me, and the relationship is just the right combination of competitive and caring.

I'm not very familiar with Rhys Ifans. I just looked at a picture and thought, "That can't be Mycroft!" But then I thought, "It could be JLM's brother." We'll see what happens.

He doesn't look much like Mycroft of the books at all. But strangely I could really easily picture him and JLM interacting. I can feel my hope levels rising.
