Hannibal: Amuse-Bouche
I don't know what I'm going to do when Elementary starts airing new episodes again as it'll conflict with Hannibal. And the latter has now become my new sick guilty pleasure.

I consider myself to be pretty tough when it comes to gross things on TV. I'll make "ewww!" sounds but rarely feel my skin crawl. But damn, this show. I'm almost shocked so much of what gets shown gets shown on network TV. WE SAW MUSHROOMS GROWING OUT OF HUMAN BODIES!!

For all the intrigue about who is the latest nutcase Will Graham has to figure out and hunt down, by far my favorite scenes were his therapy sessions with Hannibal Lecter. Oh, Mads Mikkelsen. You're making me feel like something is wrong me. I love your Hannibal so much in all his insane, devious and yet so intelligent and precise glory. He eats people and yet I somehow keep disregarding that. AND REALLY HOW AM I DISREGARDING THAT?? I find his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter delightful. I never use that word but I really can't think of another one. He's just delightful to watch in just how ultra creepy, calm, and bizarrely charming he can be: "You're totally functional and more or less sane. Well done."

I think this show in general is somehow showing us the horror of cannibalism but is also...I don't know...using it for humor? The amount of times I kept staring at the food Hannibal was giving everyone made my eyeballs hurt. I keep wanting to laughscream "IT'S PEOPLE! STOP!" I swear the show is just having all the viewers place bets on what's human meat and what's not whenever Hannibal shares his cooking with others. Surely he can't be eating people every meal, right? RIGHT?

But amidst all the gory nudge nudge wink wink about all the horror Hannibal is getting up to behind the scenes, his conversations with Will are fascinating. Particularly if you know from the books what happens to Will Graham. Bryan Fuller has apparently mapped out this show into several seasons and he does hope to tackle pretty much the entire Hannibal Lecter story. Despite how disturbing it all is, I'm clearly in love with the relationship that's forming between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter. God help me when the get to the Red Dragon storyline.
