Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman: Coming to a Radio Near You
Neverwhere is being made into a radio play starring a pretty amazing cast.

This book was one of my least favorite of Gaiman's and I didn't like the televised version much. But this cast sounds so so good and I do wonder if radio might actually be a better medium for this particular story. Can't wait to check it out.

Oh and in knowing the story, of course Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Islington. OF COURSE.

I really enjoyed Neverwhere, though I haven't seen the tv series. My impression is that the series was made first and Gaiman was so disappointed in it that he wrote the book to correct what he didn't like. In any case, I am very pleased with the cast and will very much be tuning in.

Yeah, I'd skip the series. I don't know why this book never grabbed me. The idea is really good and I do remember liking the characters. Perhaps I need to give it another try.

You're totally entitled not to have enjoyed it. I was just saying that I liked it and I'm excited for the radio production. I don't want to come off as a tumblresque 'you're opinion is different and there it is wrong, plebe!' person. Have opinions, miss! I support them! :D

I enjoyed the book but heard bad things about the tv show and so made no effort to locate it.

Bernard Cribbins... Old Bailey—I hadn't heard that bit of casting yet!

The key questions: where and when do we get it?

This cast is shaping up to be the best ever! I'm going to guess transmission will be in mid-2013? It's supposed to have a few episodes rather than one long transmission.
