Heat Wave NYC
Thank god I got a new A/C unit put in last summer because the next two days promises temperatures in the high 90's in NYC. I was trying to get to bed at a reasonable hour tonight but that idea got dumped after I caught sight of a spider the size of a half dollar crawling up my wall. I tried to kill it but it fell off the wall and now I can't locate it. Now I've been up for hours in somewhat paralyzed fear. Great.

But! On the nice front, the encounter left me too wired to sleep but too tired to work on my paper. So I'm ficcing. I'm nearly done with the last bit of "Do No Harm." I don't know why it's taking me so long to finish it out. The last chapter isn't that groundbreaking. And I continue to write "Human Nature" backwards. And I had another crossover plot bunny nibble at me but luckily there's not enough here for a multi-chapter story. Just a oneshot. Not so luckily for me, it's a crossover between Dresden Files and Due South, the latter a show I've never written for. I feel like I can't quite get Fraser's voice right so he might end up getting relegated to being mostly silent because I'm too lazy to not take that shortcut. And it's fun to write Murphy, Harry, and Anna again.

Sorry, Bob. Maybe next time. Perhaps he and Fraser's dad can have a ghostly powwow or something.

I feel somewhat awkward commenting on this because it reveals the fact that I am also awake at this unseemly hour. Erm. Well, anyway, hello, fellow nightowl, first of all.

New Scribbler fic is always good news! I am presently working on Novice God, though it's a project that's starting to depress me somewhat. Damn it, though, it will get finished, even it it takes fifteen years and a stint in Purgatory to get it done. I've had enough of unfinished stories on my journal, bah! *shakes fists at the sky*

I'm so behind in reading "Novice God." There is like a laundry list of fics I've bookmarked on my LJ that I've put aside as things to read once I can concentrate on words that are not related to my paper.

I'm starting to feel sleepy again. But this probably means I'll run into another insect of a freakishly huge size again.

While I am ashamed to beg, when your paper is done, really do please come back and tell me if I'm doing a completely horrible job. I'm feeling so inadequate about it, gaaaahhhh. There are so many characters and worlds, and just...oh, the stress. *flails about*

I'm pretty sure sleepiness won't herald the arrival of spiders! Sleep in safety, 'Scrib. Don't be spider-swarmed!

I hope you've had some sleep by now!

I'm having trouble imagining Bob talking to Fraser's dad—I'd like to see that!

Glad the other fics are coming along!

The fics are a'comin'. Especially now that I'm done with that last paper!

I remember when I was little, I always thought that if I killed a spider, there would be revenge from the spider community and a swarm of them would come to get me. But my fear of spiders was cured when there was a spider at dance class and everyone, including both teachers, had a complete freak out. I had to be the sensible one and help the little fellow outside. Waking up with a spider on your face is never good though and I can understand your reluctance.

We're up in the 40's in my part of Canada, which is the 100's in Yankee temperature. We're daily leaving gifts at the temple of the Mighty Air Conditioner. Ascii hasn't gotten the memo about the heat, though, and is running around, trying to get someone to take her for a walk.

I'm glad you're writing! Scribbler fic makes me a happy Bard. I say take whatever shortcuts you can. *thumb's up*

Well, sadly, the spiders continued to pop up in my apartment whenever the temperatures went above 95. I've had to leave the A/C on all night to keep them away. I'll be so glad when this heat wave is over.
