Meme (The 5 Kind!)
Taken from guardian_chaos:

Choose 5 shows you like before reading the questions!

1. Death in Paradise
2. Sherlock
3. Being Human (UK)
4. Merlin
5. Dirk Gently

1. Who is your favorite character in 2? (Sherlock)
John Watson.

2. Who is your least favorite character in 1? (Death in Paradise)
Hmmm....I guess I'll go with the commissioner for what he did to Poole in the last episode. SO NOT FAIR.

3. What’s your favorite episode/chapter of 4? (Merlin)
For golden comedy I enjoyed "A Servant of Two Masters." It features a completely nonsensical plot but I really didn't care in the face of watching Merlin be the most incompetent assassin ever. For the drama and angst, it's a tie between "The Wicked Day" and "The Secret Sharer." Both episodes feature the two best episode closers of the series 4.

4. What is your favorite season of 5? (Dirk Gently)
We've only had one full season and the pilot episode before it. So...um...season 1?

5. What’s your favorite relationship in 3? (Being Human)
My current favorite relationship is Hal to his OCD. Hee. For the former cast, it was the original trio of George, Mitchell, and Annie.

6. What’s your anti-relationship in 2? (Sherlock)
Sherlock/Anyone in the romantic sense. It just feels wrong on every level.

7. How long have you been watching/ reading 1? (Death in Paradise)
Since October of last year when the show first premiered.

8. How did you become interested in 3? (Being Human)
A long time ago, I read a Torchwood fic that featured a conversation between Jack Harkness and Mitchell (before Aidan Turner was cast in the role). It made me curious about the show which at that time had only been in the form of a pilot that starred Russell Tovey and two different actors playing Mitchell and Annie. I thought it was interesting enough so that I checked out the revamped series with the revised cast. The rest is history.

9. Who is your favorite character in 4? (Merlin)
It's probably Merlin. He is the title character and thus has gotten the most amount of solid character development. Arthur is a close second if only the writers would stop making him emotionally stunted whenever it suited the plot, never mind characterization.

10. Which show do you prefer: 1, 2, or 5? (Death in Paradise, Sherlock, Dirk Gently)
Oh hell. I'll go with Sherlock as I've been with that show longer and it's the only show out of the three that inspired me to write fic for it.

11. Which show have you seen more episodes/chapters of? 1 or 3? (Death in Paradise or Being Human UK)
Being Human because it's had 4 seasons now versus the 1.

12. If you could be anyone from 4 who would you be? (Merlin)
Morgana. If only so I could actually kill Arthur the smart way instead all the ridiculous convoluted ways she's tried throughout the last season.

13. How would you kill off your favorite character in 1? (Death in Paradise)
I'd probably get a French person to shoot Poole. I feel like the French deserve it after all the insults he's made at their expense.

14. Would a 3/4 crossover work? (Being Human/Merlin)
Hm. I feel like since one show features ghosts and the other magic, it can somehow be possible. I'm just not sure how. Perhaps something involving Mr. Snow. He's probably old enough to have been around during the 5th or 6th century.

15. Pair two characters in 5 that would make an unlikely, but strangely okay couple: (Dirk Gently)
Dirk and Janice. It's already clear that Janice has a rather bizarre, somewhat hate-fueled infatuation with Dirk. I think ultimately, she might be the one though to keep Dirk in check to some extent.

16. Over all, which show has a better cast, 3 or 5? (Being Human or Dirk Gently)
Definitely Being Human. Despite the fact that we lost chunks of the original cast, this season have proven to me that whoever works as casting director for this show is a genius. Michael Socha and Damian Molony were wonderful additions to the show who both fit in to the universe beautifully. They somehow managed to carve out a space all their own without forcing us to forget about the wonderful work done by Aidan Turner, Russell Tovey, and Lenora Crichlow.

17. Which show has a better soundtrack, 1, 4 or 5? (Death in Paradise, Merlin or Dirk Gently)
Merlin. I've often felt the music on this show was what could really lifted a scene from wonderful to superb.

18. Give a random quote from 3: (Being Human)
Oh, boy. What demon have you unleashed because HERE'S A BUNCH:

Annie: I'm a ghost actually.
Seth: Get out! Can you, like, move things about and... walk from one room to another?
George: Yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone can do that.

Mitchell: 10:30 Thursdays; that's 'Real Hustle time'. A fucking child knows that!
George: Could I just not have one good thing in my life?
Mitchell: It just drives me insane when they move things around!
George: Don't I deserve it, don't I deserve one bloody crumb of happiness?
Mitchell: This is so... what, so we're supposed to check every week! Like we don't have anything else to do! Is it our responsibility? I mean why's it down to us?!

Annie: My name is Annie Clare Sawyer and two years ago I died. But in so many ways, that's when my life began. In the company of horrors, I learned about friendship and loyalty, sacrifice and courage. Humanity isn't a species, it's a state of mind. It can't be defeated, it moves mountains, it saves souls. We were blessed as much as we were cursed. In this little enclave of the lost I witnessed the very best of being human.

Tom: Right. We're going to do this thing to channel Eve's energy. Because she's god an' that. Erm...and hopefully that might help you...uh..not die or whatever.
Hal: Are there subtitles for this conversation?

Hal: Then it is time to declare your intentions! First, write her a poem. Then speak to her father.
Tom: Annie said I should just get drunk and try and to snog her.
Hal: It's all so brutish these days! I preferred the dowry system.

Tom: Hal, I found these matches and some of them are the wrong way 'round.
Hal: We'll soon see about that!

I'm going to stop here before I end up quoting the entire show.

I totally ship Hal/Box Of Mixed-Up-Matches. OTP, man! OTP for life! Oh, and there was that one tough girl, but she doesn't hold a candle to the love Hal has for Box Of Mixed-Up-Matches. True fact. *nods-nods*

Completely agree. Sometimes I read fanfic that's written really well, but still makes half of my face cringe away from the screen in a desperate recoil from any pairing with Sherlock that may be involved.

*waves Sherlock banners* Whoo!!

THAT SCENE. I always think it's not going to make me laugh, and then I'm pretty much crying, I'm laughing so hard. So perfectly acted, goodness. XD

I'm so pleased that Alex will be returning. Huzzah!

I cannot handle the idea of Sherlock wanting to engage in activities like kissing or sex for the act itself. Maybe if it was for the cause of solving some really complicated case but even then. He'd probably make John do it.

Me, too! *twirls about*

Oh gosh, I just pictured Sherlock patting John brusquely on the shoulder before shoving him violently in the direction of some half-naked person, shouting, "John, this business is filthy. Have at it!"

I love asexual characters. There aren't enough of them out there.

Sherlock: I get to solve the case and you get...that. Everyone's happy.

John: You can't be serious!

Sherlock: Just lie back and think of England.

John: Sherlock!

Sherlock: What? Isn't that what people say in these situations?
Astoundingly fond of avocados and rainy weather.: Sherlock_Heart+Mindguardian_chaos on April 19th, 2012 04:34 am (UTC)
Hahahaha!! Oh, it's funny because they're in England. And they solve gory murders in England. This is the very opposite of sexy.

John: I don't want to think of here! I don't even want to be here right now!

Sherlock: You'd rather relocate to a different location for this activity?

John: ...That's it. You are entirely missing the point. (*walks away*)

Sherlock: Exactly. Why do you think I'm tasking you with this? We all need to work to our strengths, John!

John: I'm walking away now! This means I won't be able to hear you soon. So don't follow me.

Sherlock: Nonsense! If I raise my voice, you will certainly be able to hear me for at least several paces more! Perhaps you need to refresh your knowledge regarding the transference of sound--

John: I said "no," Sherlock! No matter how far away you shout at me from, the answer will stay the same!

Qn #1: my favorite too, but you knew that!

I keep forgetting that Dirk Gently was a tv show. Is it worth watching, then?

So many good things about Being Human, both casts! Almost all of your quotations are in the future for me, and I can't wait to see those scenes! I think Hal & OCD are my favorite pairing from that show, too. (Nina and George might be a tie.)

I keep forgetting that Dirk Gently was a tv show. Is it worth watching, then?

It's a gentle (yeah, I see what I did there) sort of show in that it's not too dramatic, funny, or exciting. But it's not a bad show to check out if you have some time to spare. But it wasn't one that I went crazy over. Just overall enjoyed in a mild sort of way.

Although the 2nd episode of the first season was quite wonderful. It's what pushed me to list it for this meme because as a story, that particular one really captured the bittersweet perfectly.
