Being Human Series 4: Puppy Love
And episode which really featured THE AWKWARD.

Also, we get Amanda Abbington!

This episode pushed the overarching plot ahead in its last 10 minutes. But beyond that, it was a chance to give Tom something to do other than be the comedic relief, although this entire episode felt like a comedy. We get both Tom and Hal attempting some type of...courting. Although in Hal's case he seemed to go at it more or less kicking and screaming. I continue to love all the random humor to be gotten from Hal's sometimes antiquated way of behaving. His reaction to Annie's advice to Tom to just get drunk and take a snog at Allison was pretty hilarious. ("Ugh. It's all so brutish these days. I preferred the dowery system.") And despite the writers using it often, I still love OCD!Hal. ("Hal, I found this box of matches and some of them are the wrong way round." "We'll soon see about that!")

I couldn't decide who had the more awkward pairing. Tom and Allison or Hal and Alex. Probably the latter since I couldn't even figure out if Hal was genuinely interested in Alex or not even letting himself entertain the idea of being near her lest he lose control. Tom and Allison, while sweet, felt like a couple out of a skit.

Meanwhile, Cutler's plan to ingratiate himself to Tom continues to unfold, despite some momentary interference from a superior, Golda (Amanda Abbington). To be honest, I wasn't exactly sure why we needed Golda. Is her presence and swift execution by Cutler going to come back to bite Cutler in the ass? Because if not then her character along with the henchmen felt like true filler.

I thought the true loser in the plot department this week was Annie...until the then. Well, I still sort of do but I really, really liked Emrys' parting words to her that when her time comes, her unfinished business might not necessarily be a good thing. This desire and need to see good in herself as well as others, while not a bad thing, has often left Annie with a blind spot when it comes to...well, reality. I liked that Emrys was able to bring that to the forefront in just one sentence and conclude his story on a somewhat ominous note.

But even more ominous: next week the players get closer!

I have fallen so far behind in this series. A whole three episodes! Which seems like an eternity, somehow. Gah! I am horrified at this. But I suppose that's what I get for spending time outside of my house. *bites nails*

This episode really showed off OCD!Hal at his best.
