Death in Paradise: Episode Four
Richard Poole being somewhat attracted to a woman looks pretty much the way you'd expect.

A woman, Megan Talbot, stumbles into the St. Honore police station, confessing to shooting her husband dead on the beach. When Poole and his team get out there, there's no body, blood or gun. It's a bit of a head scratcher until the body of the husband does indeed wash up later with two bullet wounds to the head. It looks like a fairly open and shut case to everyone. Everyone except Poole.

Despite believing in his gut that Megan did shoot her husband, Poole is reluctant to allow her to be taken away for murder. Particularly given that Megan reported her husband was abusive and that Poole finds her vaguely attractive. The show actually did a nice job of not making Poole a stereotypically awkward Englishman around women but rather his attraction to her was of the quiet, lukewarm variety. The latter descriptive word is pretty much how I'd sum up this episode in general. While we had three very strong episodes, the fourth was a bit of letdown in that story itself was fairly ho hum with a conclusion that was logical but hardly unique. Particularly given the shocker of an ending we got last week.

Still, the team itself is bonding rather nicely with a lovely concluding scene of Camille taking a less than comfortable Poole out on a boat ride. Although I couldn't actually understand why Poole was so uneasy on a rowboat a few feet off shore given that he drove a motorboat all by his lonesome in episode one.

We also had no sighting of Poole's lizard friend this episode. Maybe he'll come back next week with a better story.

I want this show!

sigh It's not as if I have time to watch it anyway. I'm at least a week behind on Psych, I'm not sure how far behind on Castle I am, I think I'm giving up Chuck . . . do I watch anything else right now?

Oh, man. I haven't watched Psych since the vampire episode. I think Death in Paradise and Merlin are the only shows I'm still watching. Not sure what will happen when White Collar comes back.
