America Welcomes Jonny Lee Miller
Jonny Lee Miller recently became an American citizen. The crew of Elementary offered their congratulations with this poster.

Oddly, this did not make me start thinking about crossovers. That's a first.

Hee! He looks so pleased with himself.

When you become an American citizen, does that make you not a citizen of your old country any longer? Or does it just mean you have official dual citizenship? I think in Canada to have dual citizenship you have to spend so many months in each country per year, and as an actor, I don't know if you could guarantee that.

Oddly, this did not make me start thinking about crossovers. That's a first.

I'm sure the people who worked on that poster feel like they've failed now, Scribble.

I think that currently a naturalized US citizen can maintain dual citizenship. I don't think there are any rules about how many months you have to spend in both countries. As far as I understand it, you have to officially renounce your US citizenship to no longer have it after being naturalized. Or you vote in elections that are not the US elections. I don't know if the UK has stricter laws though about dual citizenship.

It's really quite a failure. I can crossover almost anything. ANYTHING.

I remember looking into dual citizenship laws for Mummy Holmes' family, and they don't have any rules about how many months you have to stay in each country.

You know what? I was confusing dual citizenship with something else. The people we rent the cottage from have to spend so many months in the States in a year because he's America and he can't get his pension unless he's in the States that long. For some reason I had it in my head it had to do with dual citizenship, but it doesn't. I just looked it up and the Canada website basically says 'you're a citizen of whatever country says you're a citizen, live and let live, peace out'.

IMe too. I like crossovers. To an unhealthy degree. Crossovers and kidfic are my kryptonite.

And daemons. Guess who's working on Once Upon a Time daemons tonight?

It's me.

Heh. I think my uncle gave up his Korean citizenship when he became a US citizen but I don't know if that's because Korea told him he had to or if he chose to for reasons unknown to me.

So there is that crossover story that's a kidfic set in the daemon verse we're all waiting for!

HAHAHA! The smallness of the "it's me" made me lol. It feels so resigned.

Um.

I might be daemon-ing Elementary. Ever since I started testing the ficcing waters for that show, this felt like the natural next step.

The Ultimate Challenge. I feel like this will totally happen one day. I'll figure it out.

Hey man, whatever makes you happy. I don't judge. It'd be kind of interesting to see what different incarnations of Holmeses get as daemons. Technically, they would all have the same since they are the same character, but obviously each version takes their own interpretation, so one version's daemon wouldn't fit another.

I'm trying to decide if Rumpelstiltskin's daemon would have changed when he became the Dark One. I feel like dark magic corrupts your soul in the OUAT universe, and that might have an effect on your daemon. But then does Ferdika stay as the Dark One's daemon when in Storybrooke, or does she revert to her old self because he's human again?

I feel like JLM's Sherlock and BC's Sherlock are incredibly different at this point just by the virtue of their past. Particularly related to JLM!Sherlock's take on his drug abuse vs. BC!Sherlock.

I don't know enough about the OUAT universe and how the magic there works to offer any advice on this one. Maybe it's like a Hulk/Bruce Banner situation where the animal remains the same but the look alters a bit?

Yeah, and their way of interacting with the world is different, too. I chose Tzophiya's animal to be standoffish and showy ("look at me, go away"), whereas JLM!Sherlock is quieter and more contemplative, and I feel like a go-away bird would be too in your face for him.

Maybe it's like a Hulk/Bruce Banner situation where the animal remains the same but the look alters a bit?

This makes me lol, because my choice for pre-Dark One Rumple is a bunny and now I'm picturing her being a bunny, but an evil bunny. I think that works, though. She could just take on the gold sheen he has.

formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on November 6th, 2014 04:17 am (UTC)
I'm tempted to give JLM!Sherlock something really commonplace. Like a squirrel. Also because JLM kind of looks like one. But that feels lazy.

As denoted by her tiny evil goatee.

Hee! Is squirrel!JLM on the guest list for the tea parties?

Haha! Oh God, I'm picturing her with a little black marker goatee on her face.

Apparently in some folklore traditions, rabbits are tricksters, so that works for both the coward and the trickster aspects of the character.

I'm just really having a hard time picturing people living in fear of this.

I think squirrel!JLM will probably attend the picnic. He can scamper about while colt!Evans trots around.

Oh man. That bunny isn't even trying! I mean, at least do a more aggressive stance. That stance with its little paws all neatly tucked near each other is beyond adorable! And the ears! It's drooping down. That's not scary. You're not scary at all, are you?

Aaaand, there's your crossover. Booyah.

For some reason, I picture squirrel!JLM manning the basket and being very concerned about the quality of the tea.

Speaking of tea parties and talking animals, did you see the new Paddington trailer with Ben Whishaw's voice added in? It's far less scary than the original trailer.

You're not scary at all, are you?

Ferdika: Wait, wait, I can do better! Rarrr.

This a most surprising crossover. It's like animal actor RPF. Is that a thing?

I haven't. I'll have to give it a watch. I can imagine Whishaw's voice making things a bit more soothing.

Ferdika: Wait, wait, I can do better! Rarrr.

Look at your fuzzy little chest! I just want to give it a rub!

I'm afraid to Google and find out.

Whishaw's voice making things a bit more soothing.

He has such a lovely, delicate voice. I feel like it was made to read poetry wistfully.

Ferdika: I see I'm going to have to work on this.

I watched the new trailer. It is less horror movie like. It's funny that I recognized Whishaw's voice immediately. It does make Paddington sound rather proper and delicate.

It's funny that I recognized Whishaw's voice immediately.

I felt a little weird that I could distinguish Whishaw's gasps and grunts.

It's odd, I have no real attachment to Paddington, except that my dad seems to have liked him (the first toy he brought my brother was a Paddington bear, which I sort of remember, and the first mother's day gift he got my mum was a set of salt and pepper shakers that I grew up with). I know very little about the story or what he's like, but I still feel very concerned about this film.

I have no attachment to Paddington but yes, I felt a strange level of concern for this film.

Anyways, I'm off to bed. Good chatting with you as always!

G'night! Sleep well!
