Yes, "Weird Al" Yankovic. YES.
Thanks to Yankovic, I now know why Robin Thicke had to be born.

This is just majestic.

Thank you for that. It put a smile in my day.

Glad to have helped!

OMG, I'm loving his videos. I'm such a fan of his (and an appreciation of grammar!).

They're awesome! This song is so damn clever.

Weird Al was such a bonding figure in my life. He and the Rankins were the only music my family could agree on when we were travelling on vacation. My brother especially loved him.

And that was brilliant. I'm geeky enough that I kept thinking 'ooh, that typography is lovely' all the way through. And it's so nice to have that song not be awful, because it's so catchy, but the official lyrics are terrible. I like these ones much better.

I'm so glad someone took this tune and put in better lyrics. I'm totally putting this on my ipod.

I loved the part about not writing words using numbers unless you're 7. I detest it when people do that in texts. So much hate. That's H-A-T-E. Not H8.

I really, really don't understand people who don't type properly on the Internet. If you practice, you can type just as fast with proper capitalization and punctuation. It's just laziness, and stupid. You sound stupid, you look stupid. The easiest way for me to respect you is to type properly. I don't care as much about grammar; grammar is hard, but you can take the time to put a capital on the I when referring to yourself. You're worth it. You're important enough for that.

Yeah, I can't be the grammar police because my grammar is hardly stellar. But for the love of God, please capitalize and punctuate properly. And SPELL OUT YOUR WORDS. I'll accept LOLs etc. but this 'where r u?" stuff has to go.

The only place I accept abbreviations is in gaming (which is where they started, I think) when you're playing an MMORPG and in battle and clicking and aiming and typing. Full sentences take too much time when you're trying to stay alive or keep your group alive. Maybe on Twitter to save some space. Otherwise, no.

YES. I love this song. I have problems with the lyrics to "Blurred Lines," but it's so catchy that I've caught myself singing it. Now I have better lyrics!

You're probably too recent a friend to have read this, but Weird Al once sat in my lap, and that there in my icon is a tiny version of the picture from the occasion.

On a totally unrelated note, sam_storyteller has written a Kings fic, "The Season Of Singing":
Summary: David desperately wants to be Jack's friend and ally. Jack doesn't know what he wants. There's probably a preordained plan for both of them, but they're going to have to work out the details on their own.
Notes: Written for Arsenic's birthday, because both of us were annoyed that Jack and David weren't friends in the show.

I haven't seen the show, but I've really enjoyed Sam's ten (and not-explicit) fic that he has written in fantoms that I follow, so I hope you might enjoy this.

So that's what that icon is! To me I always thought it was two people about to kiss but now I see it. That's kind of amazing!

Thanks for the fic rec. I'd read some of Sam's Torchwood fics way back when and enjoyed them. This ended up being my very first Kings fic that I've read. I'm convinced if the show had gotten a 2nd season, Jack and David would have at least become friends or allies.

I spent a lot of time watching the show going back and forth between not liking Jack very much to REALLY feeling for him whenever he had to interact with either of his parents. As an example, this is Silas' version of giving fatherly advice.

And this is his version of showing restraint as a father.

He wins no parenting awards.

I don't think I could watch that show after seeing those gifs—just too painful!

I'm pretty sure those are the worst examples of Silas as a parent. I won't get into Rose's parenting fails. She's less cruel but equally messed up.

That was amazing (the typography? animation? whatever it was, it was gorgeous!) Also Alanis Morissette's Ironic reference, ahahah (it's only like 2 decades out of date! XD)

...I should make an icon out of the its/it's bit (that one drives me batty!)
