Never Fails to Make Me Grin
I don't talk about him much, but I rather adore Richard Ayoade.

Below is him in the 2010 (?) Big Fat Quiz of the Year with the equally delightful Noel Fielding. This is their answer to "What three items did Gordon Brown allegedly throw at his colleagues while he was Prime Minster?"

I'm just off to bed, but seconding the love before I do. I've been putting on 'Was it Something I Said?' in the background while I'm working, and Richard is very much the highlight of it, along with the ever lovable David Mitchell.

I've never seen the IT Crowd, but I love seeing him in whatever panel games he pops up in. He has a lovely mixture of the angry David Mitchell ranting and the surreal Noel Fielding daydreaming.

I've been watching some eps of "Was it Something I Said?" myself. Ayoade and Mitchell are lovable combo.

Ayoade's appearance on the latest "Big Fat Quiz" was also made of win. I particularly loved his comments on Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htYOgDs6ROE

You might enjoy the IT Crowd. It's not all fantastic but Ayoade and Chris O'Dowd are rather adorable as Moss and Roy. Ayoade's Moss is like a supersized socially awkward version of himself.

I have to say that all the men on the Quiz's view on 'Blurred Lines' restored my hopes in humanity a little. The fact that all recognized that it was a creepy song--even Jimmy Carr, who is less than PC in his comedy--made me very happy.

I feel like Aoyade would be very good on '8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown'. I don't know if he's ever done it, though.

I unexpectedly chortled when Jack Whitehall just said, "What a prick" after they showed the video segment. So succinct. So accurate.

What is 8 out of 10 Cats? I've heard of it but I never figured out what the show actually is.

Jack Whitehall has been growing on me lately. He seems to be getting the hang of himself, if that makes sense.

8 out of Ten cats is sort of...it's panel show, and all the questions are based on polls, statistics and surveys. It's not one of the best ones out there, but the later series haven't been too bad. Jon Richardson is so cuddly and adorable, and he's paired with Sean Lock, who is the most surreal, weird, curmudgeon. Jimmy Carr hosts. They've done a few series of what is essentially 'Celebrity Countdown', which I find much more entertaining than the actual 8 out of Ten Cats show.

Yeah, he's sort of maturing and growing into himself.

Well...I was going to say "No, thank you" but the right people can make anything amusing.

He was stupidly young when he started, so maybe he's just growing up.

The premise is a very loose reason for the guests to go off on rants, basically. It's one of the few shows that have integrated the BBC's new rule of at least one woman on each panel show per episode without it seeming forced.

Richardson is adorable. But you also couldn't exactly describe him as not curmudgeonly also, especially if you've seen any of his stand-up. I quote, 'Anyone in love here tonight? Let me give you a little tip: it's not gonna last.'

Yes, fair enough. But he's an adorable curmudgeon. He's sort of...like a little angry kitten. Like, super grouchy but ultimately harmless. :-)

Perfect description is perfect. He sort of bats at you with his words the way a kitten might with their tiny little paws.

And you want to go 'awwww' but you know they're trying so hard to be fierce. ^_^

Jon Richardson is my spirit animal, a bit. A lot of his quirks and rants make so munch sense to me.

If you haven't seen The IT Crowd it won't make a whole lot of sense, but there's a 'Street Countdown' episode (does what it says on the tin!) which would make Ayoade especially delightful as the 8OO10CDC host...

Because I'd never seen Countdown, I was kind of with Roy on this one. But still hilarious:

Maybe the greatest episode. Barring the one with Douglas and his girlfriend 'from Iran'. Or the one with Richmond getting some with Nervous Girl, and the White Russians. or...

These boys are my darlings, especially Ricky. Also loving the sub-Richmond look that Noel's rocking.

I love Noel Fielding's garb. He rocks it like nothing else.
