Couple Playing:
Connie Murphy (of Dresden Files) and Greg Lestrade (of Sherlock)

So, I may have written most of a fic where Murphy and Lestrade do in fact become a couple. I wrote the quick crossover ficlet as a way to clear my mind so I can write the last chapter of the OTHER crossover fic that stars the cast of Sherlock. I can see the damn finish line but I got wildly distracted by one of the characters who suddenly decided to be really, really chatty and things went a bit off target. Must regroup and edit. So...what was I doing? Or right, this meme.

big spoon/little spoon: Murphy and Lestrade rarely spoon but when it happens, it tends to be Lestrade. Both have been single longer than they've been with someone so they tend to sleep rather independently and find they feel more rested when they've largely remained apart when sleeping during the night.

favorite non-sexual activity: Going for long walks in the country. Both Murphy and Lestrade are more used to the city life but when time allows, they like going to the more rural areas for a hike.

what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue: Between the two of them, their DVR is stored with episodes of QI, Iron Chef, random shows from the Discovery channel (particularly during Shark Week), and Hitchcock films whenever there's a marathon. More often then not, they only get around to watching things because the DVR gets full.

who uses all the hot water: Murphy. She loves long hot showers.

most trivial thing they fight over: they will never agree on whether or not bread should remain in the fridge or be left in a cupboard. Consequently, they each get their own loaves. Anna shares with Murphy who keeps hers in the fridge.

who cooks normally: Lestrade. He's not chef-level amazing but Murphy got spoiled by deliveries in Chicago and can't really cook at all these days. Anna was really excited to discover that Lestrade had some talent and took it upon herself to train him to make some of her and her mom's favorites during the early days of the two dating.

who kissed who first?: This depends on what you consider a first kiss. Murphy technically kissed Lestrade first but this was largely due to a spell that had to be performed thanks to one of Harry's clients turning out to be a follower of Ammit who was going to eat Lestrade's soul otherwise. Later that week Lestrade kissed Murphy when it was just the two of them at the station, working late on some paperwork, no supernatural creatures in sight.

who does most of the cleaning?: Murphy tends to tackle dishes and laundry while Lestrade takes care of the bathrooms and sorting out the recycling. Anna is in charge of taking care of Lester, their dog.

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: Murphy. She does it quickly because Lestrade will inevitably try and fix it himself.

who remembers anniversaries: The only anniversaries both Murphy and Lestrade tend to remember and feel are important is the anniversary of them moving in together and the anniversary of when Lestrade legally adopted Anna as his daughter. Harry sometimes remembers the anniversary of when Murphy and Lestrade first met but that's only because he was also arrested by Scotland Yard on that same day and it wasn't all that pleasant.

There is not enough aww in the world for this. I literally burst out in a grin as soon as I read it. Also lol at Lestrade trying to fix things himself, because yes, he totally would.

This is all so lovely! (See, you can do fluff) And yay for fics!

See, you can do fluff

I nearly threw in a factoid that was angsty but decided to keep it light. The angst would have been more from Harry. Murphy and Lestrade are a totally happy couple.

I'm rather pleased that you have Connie Murphy and Greg Lestrade become a couple. I think they go great together.

Having said that, in my Sherlock/Dresden xover, the muses haven't let on whether Connie and Greg get together or whether she susses out that he's lusting after both John and Sherlock... I'm half tempted to do a 'pick your own ending' thing.
