Aziraphale: Angel of the Lord, Wearer of Questionable Jumpers
Just to support my oft mentioned assertion that Mark Gatiss should play Aziraphale:

Note the less than fashionable jumper. Even his coat works because as you see in the image below, it's got a tartan lining. He's borrowing Crowley's mobile to make a call as he sees that there's something ominous in the air.

Actually, this is one of Gatiss' characters from his League of Gentleman days, Mr. Chinnery the vet who couldn't help an animal to save his life. Even that reminds me of how Aziraphale once accidentally killed a pigeon.

That bunny is doomed.

In any case, these photos have done very little in stopping me from wanting to write a fic where all three Holmes brothers meet Azirphale and Crowley. It's a good thing I'm used to seeing Mark Gatiss basically interact with himself in the League of Gentlemen series.

I'm sure if Aziraphale ever actually gets cast, they'll disregard canon and make him young and hot, but I do very much like the idea of Gatiss. I'm used to seeing him as very cold and haughty, but some of his comedy stuff has made me see he can do cuddly, too.

Is this the fic Sherlock was disapproving of?

Speakong of Gatiss and Mycroft, Q is being quite cooperative for my Father Holmes trilogy, but I can't get Mycroft to need his dad for anything. I maybe have to seriously hurt one or the other of them. That always works, right?

AUGH. And yet so possible.

I'm convinced that he's probably the cuddliest in the League. But that's not too hard given how wonderfully twisted Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith are.

...Yes. (hangs head)

That's always been my go to solution.

I haven't seen the League at all, but I have seen some of the Horrible Histories that they've done. Mark Gatiss's clueless film producer character is brilliant.

Stab wounds for everyone! Er...

I've seriously never had this much trouble with Mucroft before, Sherlock was quite happily in two different versions of his story (I posted the happy version, because it's me), but Mycroft will not be parented. I think I'll have to sedate him.

Hahaha! For me it always seems to be "Stab wounds for everyone! Or rather just you, John. Sorry."

I think I'll have to sedate him.

I kind of love the idea of Mycroft being high on painkillers. He'd still try to Mycroft things but it would be half nonsensical and half extra diabolical.

That's like Sherlock for me. John gets it pretty easy in my fanfiction world.

Haha! I can just see him trying to get out bed because the Korea elections are happening, and Father trying to convince him that no, they are totally not happening, go back to bed, for the love of Christ, where is your mother?

Poor John!

I know. I owe him a fic where he gets a nice holiday or something. Maybe a fun, non-violent adventure with Sherlock and later a pint with Stamford.

He's blond! I can't get over the fact that he's blond!

Hehe! In real life, he's ginger. I get a kick out of him and Benedict both being real life gingers dying their hair to look more like each other on the show. :-)

A lot of fanart seems to depict Mycroft with ginger hair, too, and I've never be able to figure out why.

This reminds me of the episode in League of Gentlemen where Steve Pemberton was playing a female character who went to a party dressed as a man. So Pemberton was a man, pretending to be a woman pretending to be a man. And he got to wear two wigs on top of each other.

How very Shakespearean. :D

It's quite a sight.

I have no response to this. Creative use of duct tape for the Chaplin moustache, though.

And that's not even the weirdest looking character.
formerly lifeinsomniacjoonscribble on August 28th, 2013 05:02 am (UTC)
Okay, I just watched a couple of clips from "Horrible Histories." Gatiss' American accent was sort of a shock but not bad. Neither was Shearsmith's. However, I didn't even realize Pemberton was trying for an accent until much much later.

The sketches are pretty funny though. The Shackleton one was hilarious.

I quite like the Viking one.

"Okay, no problem. (This is a massive problem.)"

I'm off to bed. G'night!

Yes, I've seen Mark Gatiss as ginger, and I'd heard about the hair dyeing.

I know! And that's one of the tamer looks from the series.
