Hannibal has been renewed!
After dragging us along, this didn't end up becoming another Dresden Files repeat! The show has been renewed for another 13 episodes which will air starting midseason again.

I was very certain that as soon I as started watching the show, they would cancel it, but I was wrong! Perhaps I have somehow contributed to ratings. They were smart enough to take in DVR ratings, too.

Yay for renewel! And just in time for my birthday!

I'm pleased we won't be stuck with an almighty cliffhanger without resolution for season 1.

And just in time for my birthday!

Happy early birthday!

And even mid season airing is less waiting time than Sherlock, though I'm sure tumblr will be rending their garments when the cliffhanger airs. I've happily disengaged from the Sherlock fandom, but strolling through the Hannibal tag leads me to believe there is some war going on between them and the Hannibal fandom. I shall stay on the Good Ship I Respect Your Opinions sailling the LJ ocean, and avoid the wank.

Thank you!

Really? I've been pretty actively looking at the Hannibal tag and haven't seen anything. But maybe I'm just lucky. I did notice someone wrote a fan fic where Hannibal becomes John's therapist after Sherlock's "death." Despite the entirely plausible set up, I sidestepped that one.

I'm not sure, nor am interested in, how the war started, but it seems to be the usual "Sherlock fans ruin everything!!!" complaints.

Man, John must be pretty cut up to go to another country for therapy. Ella isn't that bad a shrink, whatever Mycroft's opinion.

I wondered how a crossover would go down, with Will being all empathy and Sherlock being all fact, but all I could really picture was Hannibal walking into the room and Sherlock muttering 'cannibal' under his breath, the way he called Jim gay in the lab.

Sherlock: *cough* Cannibal.
Will: What?
Sherlock: Er, Hannibal! Hannibal Lecter, I've read your paper on Messing with Poor Traumtized Profilers Heads. Very interesting, bit dry.

AHAHAHAA!!!

Sherlock's rapidfire explanation of what he observed that led him to that conclusion would be pretty horrific, I'd imagine.

Also, Hannibal would most likely want to eat Sherlock's brain. Seeing as how it's so incredibly rare.

"...And, finally, he keeps an illustration of The Wounded Man on his desk, I have no idea how you didn't notice this earlier. By the way, you have something wrong with your brain, get a scan done. Laterz."

Sherlock is so rude I have think he'd get Rolodex'd instantly, but then I wonder if he might be special enough to get a reprieve, so long as he didn't figure out what was going on. Can you imagine what playing around in Sherlock's brain would be like for Hannibal? He'd have a field day.

And perhaps at last Will could get a break from being secretly tormented.

I'd imagine Hannibal would play around with Sherlock's brain for as long as feasible and then construct an almighty feast with Sherlock's brain dish being the centerpiece.

I guess that's one way to honour him.

Also: eek! This is why I shall never write crossovers with this show. I don't want people I like to get et.

I don't want anyone to get et, actually. But, you know,..it's a show about a cannibal.

Holy crap, I love it so much when people post a lot in one day. It usually means they're excited about things! Lots of things! And I enjoy reading through the excitement. YAY for a second season!! I'm usually so scared for any show I watch nowadays because there's really no accurate way to figure out which shows people are even watching, given the very many ways shows can be watched.

But anyway, so glad this isn't something I need to worry about anymore! *throws celebratory confetti*

Luckily for Hannibal, the studios took into account the DVR stats. That's probably what saved it from cancellation.

EEEeeee!!!!

I don't know yet if I'm happy about this or really really scared.
